Samuel Estill Whitaker : ウィキペディア英語版 | Samuel Estill Whitaker Samuel Estill Whitaker (September 25, 1886 – March 26, 1967) was a Tennessee attorney and mayor, and later a long-serving judge of the United States Court of Claims. Whitaker received an LL.B. from the University of Chattanooga in 1909. He was in private practice in Chattanooga, Tennessee from 1909 to 1914, when he joined the United States Army at the outset of World War I. He served as a Captain in Field Artillery until 1919. Attorney, Bureau of Internal Revenue, 1919–1920. Private practice, Chattanooga, Tennessee, 1921–1937. City attorney, Chattanooga, 1923–1924. Mayor, Riverview, Tennessee, 1925–1929. Special assistant to the Attorney General of the United States, U.S. Department of Justice, 1933–1937. Assistant attorney general, Civil Division, U.S. Department of Justice, 1939. President Franklin D. Roosevelt nominated Whitaker to the Court of Claims, to which he received his commission on July 11, 1939. Retired from active service on July 19, 1964.
